Bit of a shock..

Hello everyone , how are you today?

We have had a shock diagnosis in the last week.

My lovely husband is now classed as Diabetic. He has been borderline for about 10 years and took steps to keep it that way. Now however he is over the limit and is Diabetic Type 2. It really is a shock as the man is as healthy as a horse. We don't have biscuits or sugar in tea and coffee and haven't for about 7 months. He cycles to work and walks everywhere else, he is not overweight at all. Our weekly fruit bill is £10 or more , i would rather spend money on fruit than junk and crisps. He is at the allotments daily when the weather permits . Unfortunately we don't know if his parents had any of these issues as they have sadly passed.
So now we have had to change our diets to help him manage it. He is on medication from the doctors and still in a bit of shock about it. The doctor explained it all to him and we have researched on how to help lower his levels and make sure he is ok. I never would have thought that he would be Diabetic in a million years. I do feel a little annoyed with the doctors as this is his first blood test in 2 years and bang his level has doubled , no one has checked on him since the Pandemic, i understand they have greater concerns and worries but it does sometimes feel like you get left alone on the shelf to be dealt with at a later date.
We are not people to make a fuss or bother doctors as we know they are busy and you feel like sometimes you are just wasting their time over something as trivial as a blood test but and its a big but, they knew he was so close to the edge and didn't monitor him like they should.
However we will manage it and hopefully get his levels down. Wish us luck.
Have a great day.
Love FTM🌼
