Tweaking a recipe

Hello all,how are you?
Have you ever made something for years and years and then all of a sudden it just doesn't taste the same anymore.
I have made this particular Goulash for quite a while and it always tastes good. But this weekend it was not the same..i used the same ingredients as always but it just didn't click.
Iris is the only one apart form me that loves goulash..and even she said it wasn't right.
So into the pantry we went and came out with a whole host of extras to add.
Fist we added a pinch of mixed herbs and extra paprika..still not there. We added a little more tomato juice and let it simmer for a while ..it just didn't cut it.
So then we added some mustard seeds and  my stroke of genius was to add half a jar of tomato and chilli chutney..now that hit the spot.Both of us tasted it and agreed it was the best yet.
So now i have a new recipe for Goulash,Iris wrote down the added extras and we just couldn't stop grabbing a spoonful whilst it cooled.
