September and Christmas Prep.
Hello everyone , how are you all on this the very first day of September, and the weather definitely feels Autumnish, we have had wind, rain and sunshine but also still warm. I am so looking forward to the cooler days and cozy nights on the sofa. Seeing all the colours come through on the trees. I do have some lovely little decorations that i have collected over time to put out but it is still to early (isn't it?).
So now the 1st of September is here we are starting to get our Christmas up and running, for some i know it's too early to even think about it but it is looming and will be here before you know it.
Our prep is a simple one ,we have 2 boxes upstairs , one for gifts and the other for food and treats. Already we have some gifts put away, nothing expensive or over the top just thoughtful ones that we know will be used. We also start to check online and in shops for little things that are on sale .We do have a set amount for each person and a rough idea of what they would like. The food box will be full of chocolates, crisps, pop and little luxury treats for us to enjoy. Now is the best time to start to filling the boxes, shops are trying to get rid of their stock to make way for the new season stuff and you can get some brilliant bargains. We will go around the cheap shops as we used to call them, not any longer though, Home Bargains, B&M and Poundland for stocking fillers and novelty gifts . I am not that prepped that i start in the January sales (now that is dedication). Years ago we started in June but now is just the right time. I already know what we are having for lunches and buffet teas and i will buy a few extra bits with my shopping and put them away. I also have planned what i will be baking and making up in front. We do buy extra gifts just incase we get something unexpected from some one. I also make up some extra gifts including jam and chutneys i have made. We have bought some absolutely brilliant mini loaf tins and we will be using these to make fruits cakes and small loaves to pop in little hampers for people.
These are what the mini loaves look like when made
They will be lovely for a gift, i would be over joyed to receive this with some home made jams. Obviously these are ours and very tasty they are.I also made some fruit cakes today as it was my Monday baking day.
These were delicious according to my hubby and son who shared one, they are big enough for 2 but a bit of a toughie for one person to manage all in one go. The rest i popped in the freezer for the week .
So this is what will be slowly happening from now on a little bit of prepping and also just doing our thing. Have you ever noticed that doing your own thing and minding your own business living a quiet life just seems to rub some folks up the wrong way and they have to have an opinion on your life and what you do with it, meanwhile we are here not actually giving a fig what they do with theirs.
Have a lovely day and keep doing your own thing.
Love Ftm🌻
