What did you do yesterday?

 Hello everyone, how are you all today? Isn't it a beautiful morning, sun shine, warm and no wind.

So as i live a total rock an roll life and barely have a dull moment 😁 i spent an afternoon digging holes and mixing Post crete, not alone i might add , my trusty side kick was there on his knees digging it all out.

Most people would not find that thrilling but we did. It has been a long time coming and we put it off a while but yesterday was the day we did it. After the fence had been supported for at least 29 years by an out of control ivy we spent a few days cutting it all down, we were covered in bits and stuff that i don't want to think about , it even got in my bra, so when i went for a bath i had bits floating all over.

Here is the huge lump we took down. It had grown through the fence and firmly entwined itself through the trellis work, infact no fence left just ivy. We used a Chainsaw, Axe and Chisel to get it all down, just about every tool we had was used to remove it plus all the curse words you could imagine, through blood ,sweat and almost tears we did it.There was blood as hubby cut his arm quite deeply on it and i had bruises on my arms, we were all sweaty and profoudly annoyed at it by the end. When it finally gave up and came down there was such a relief, not just us but the fence seemed to pop back up to being almost straight.

So now that is gone we had to put new posts in to support the fence. I never realised just how much daylight it blocked out and for the first time in years we could see the neighbours garage.

Hubby had to dig down quite a ways to get the old concrete out so we coud redo it all and make the posts as solid as we could.

The dirt was bone dry underneath it all so i had to water the hole.

We are by now semi professional at doing this i might add, as we have done so many.

The beauty of Post Crete is that it sets in under 30 minutes.

We still have more ivy to remove and we will gradually move along the fence and do more posts if needed but for now these  two are set solid and we will mend the fence with new boards and a coat of paint. The purple was a good idea at the time but not now please don't just me on previous taste😃.

So yesterday as in keeping with our Rock an Roll life we dug holes and did it ourselves listening to our local radio staion on Alexa. Our afternoon might not be to everyones taste but it is ours, there is something so satisfying about looking at it and knowing we did it all ourselves.
