Long week.

Hello everyone, how are you all doing?

This week has been tough for us all, everyone is mourning Jack in their own way and it is going to be hard to adjust to not having him here. Our lives were literally run around him, we made so many changes to our home to make sure he had a good life and now we have to change back ,  remembering we don't have to close doors any more as we won't have a stand off with him on the stairs and trying to attack the post as it comes through the letterbox and being able to answer the door or phone without him barking like we were being invaded. It is so quiet now, he was just a little guy but he has left a huge hole in our home. It will take time to re adjust, as i type this i have tears as he would sit next to me when i got my laptop out and it seemed like he was watching what i wrote and laying his head on my keyboard so much that i had to check for errors a few times before posting. It  will take time for us all, he was in our lives for 13 years, not a pet but family. Getting up in the mornings is hardest as i expect to see his little face peeping out his bed at me, i have cried whilst making my tea.

To try and take my mind off it all i have thrown myself into all the little jobs that i have been meaning to do but never got around to.

I stripped out the living room and washed the curtains, dusted everything and sorted the book cases, i cleaned the windows and blinds. Cleaned all the leaves on my plants and updated my book journal.

I painted the steps black to match the windowsills.

I Atumunised the front porch. It took forever to paint the side of the door bricks in black, trying not to get it on the cream wall.

I put out some of our Pumpkins, the rest are in the greenhouse along with the Butternut Squash.

We have decided to use our old Belfast sink as a veggie washing area, it's ok doing it at the kitchen sink but the clean up afterwards is sometimes horrendous and takes longer then the veg prep.
We emptied the compost out and replanted the flowers in the borders.

It just needs a scrub and some piping put in to drain the water away into a bucket underneath.
So that has been my week, i am hoping that every day that passes it will get easier for us all.

Take care
Love Ftm🍂

  1. It's an awful time for you. Whenever I've lost a much loved pet, it's sent me into cleaning mode & decluttering frenzy. I find being busy does help. I'm 3 weeks down the line now, a little less raw, but grief still creeps in!

    1. Hello, yes it does get easier, we are still adjusting to the house being without him, everyone has jobs to go to but i am home so i have been doing all i can to keep busy. Hopefully in a few more weeks i will be able to talk about him without breaking down. I like to think that Jack had a really good life and knows how much we all love him.
      Hope you are ok
