August already.

Hello everyone, how are you all?

Can you believe it's August already, my my my how this year is flying past. It will soon be Christmas before we know it. The nights are feeling chillier thankfully and also it is getting dark earlier, by 9 last night my lamps were on.

Our daughter who works at Home Bargains told me all the Autumn Range is in and also Christmas Crackers in the warehouse. Ooh i am going for a look next week, i love Autumn.

This week has been a little unusual and very worrying for me. My little brother has been diagnosed with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma and is currently in hospital being treated. It came as a shock to be honest . We had met up for my Uncle's internment in July and he did look tired and worn out, this was on the Thursday and by the following Sunday he was admitted and has been in hospital ever since. It took until this week for it to be clearly diagnosed. My heart goes out to him, he has just got married and moved to a new house, new job as well. He is feeling ok and having Chemo. Please keep your fingers crossed for him, he is a pain in my bum, a tormenting little sod but i love him to bits.

At home i have been on to the Council about my ceiling, it seems they have forgotten all about me, i was on hold for about 10 minutes whilst they had an emergency chit chat in the back. I need a contract  manager and an onsite inspection before anything can be done, apparently it will be next week.We will see, i was supposed to get a phone call but never did..here we go. If i don't hear anything at all i will be making a complaint. I am so tired of being fobbed off now. If i think about it too much i get angry and i do not want to be that shrieking harpie on the phone, i will stay calm and be firm.

Thankfully i have my lovely home to fill me with calm and relax me, i have been busy in the garden helping hubby with moving stuff from one greenhouse to another and putting up more shading. I prepped more veggies for the freezer.

We finally got some Potatoes, not many, but they were all eaten for lunch and the taste was divine, beats the supermarket ones any day.

I will be having more of these i hope and when the supply starts to dry up i will save some for Christmas dinner as roasties, nothing better than sitting down to lovely dinner with home made roast potatoes from your own gardens.

Finally i have replaced the rug in the living room. You may remember the debacle i had months ago with the wrong size and  then my pickyness took over and i couldn't find one that i really liked, well i am glad i waited because i finally found one in the colour and size that i really really like.

And in the best news , it is fully washable. All i have to do is fold it and pop it in on a cold wash. It looks amazing and feels so soft under foot. It wasn't too expensive either so i think i got a good deal

After a stressful week i decide it was time to crack open the chocolate i received for my birthday. It has been nestled in the fridge just staring at me every time i go in there.Time to try it out.
This is not just any Chocolate though ..it's an M&S Chocolate.

Serve 6 apparently.
You can smell the dark chocolate as soon as you open the foil, i spent a while just smelling it, don't judge. Look how dark it is and all those nuts. All spread evenly and in chunks though out, delicious.

I had one square , it was so thick and rich i think if you ate 2 you wouldn't want more. I limited myself to one chunk with a coffee when i feel like it, Iris and me split a chunk as well. I don't advertise for M&S normally but i think they have got this absolutely perfect.Thank you Andrea for this perfect treat. You know me so well. If you want a piece of pure indulgence then grab one of these for yourself.

I got started on painting the outside windowsills in Black. It took 2 coats to be sure, one would have done but i like to do 2 just in case, i do not want flaking or peeling on these, I perched on the edge of windows to do the outside top parts on Iris's window, holding on to the frame for grim death. I managed to do it and hubby also had to do the top parts downstairs as i can't each properly, the drawback of being a shirt arse as they say.
Below is the red
Now for the Black

I personally think it looks better. Now i will do the front of the house with some cooler weather on the way. We did have a shower again this week but i think it evaporated as soon as it touched the floor.
To try and keep our Flowers going i spent a morning weeding and dead heading them, i also watered them all but then the sun hit them and i really think i am flogging a dead horse , i will keep trying, the bee's love them so for them i will try my best. The Ladybirds are having a ball on the bugs.

That's all for now folks, i will update on the kitchen as and when, also my brother.
Take care everyone.
Love Ftm💙
