Different Saturdays for me.

Hello everyone , how are you all?

I hope that you have all had a lovely day , a day to relax or catch up with family, friends, shopping or household jobs. It could be either or all of the above. I was at having a coffee this morning just thinking of how my Saturdays have changed so much over the years. In the early years when we had our first baby, my Saturday was up early and off down the Market to get our weeks worth of Fruit and Veg, a quick pop to the Baby stall to pick up a little outfit for Andrea, that baby girl had a new dress every week with frilly pants and those cute socks with lace around the ankles, her wardrobe was better than mine.

As we had more babies the stall made  more and more off me , pretty sure i paid for the lady's retirement single handed. But it was worth every penny to  see my beautiful baby girls all in little cute clothes . That changed too when i had a little boy, o he was adorable in his jeans and shirts, bless him so sweet.

Life changed as they grew and the Market became so important to us, fruit , veg and the Butcher, every week we would go and stock up for our little family. We would buy clothes and what ever bits and bobs everyone needed on Saturdays and get home in time to put it all away and have Burgers and Hot dogs , a special treat was fresh doughnuts for us all.

In the end as they grew , they went with friends and school clubs so we didn't need it that much and we  gave it a miss, then we had 2 more little girls , o my word . My Saturdays were busy with bottles and nappies, so hubby went to the Market and it just wasn't the same anymore, stalls were missing and it had been condensed down to one small area and as for the prices , well it was not as cheap at all.

So as time has gone on our Saturdays have definitely changed a lot from frantic shopping to not bothering any more and spending time at the Allotments and Saturdays were my day for baking and Batch cooking, prepping for the week. The Internet made things easier and sometimes cheaper to buy for the girls. We had major life changes and decided to become more sufficient with growing and making our own food, with hubby at work and me Home Schooling all week Saturdays were our day to catch up with jobs and do all the things we needed to.

Now my kitchen is given over to Simon on Saturdays so he can make all our bread for the week, i do a lovely lunch in between and i have to give him his dues he does leave the kitchen as he finds it, clean and tidy.

I don't do laundry on Saturday's as the kitchen is just not big enough for us to both be in there.

Today we had Bacon, Sausage and Egg cobs for lunch, very tasty and i was being spied on all the time in the hope i would drop some or leave some for him.

He got some little bits of Bacon in the end, his patience paid off.

I received some bits from Fionna this week , we actually did a swap on the doorstep. She got duvets and cushion covers and i got some Candle Holders, so i rearranged my Mantle piece . I will get some of those battery powered candles to go in them.
That took about 10 minutes in all honesty.
Sitting around actually drives me potty, so when the Postman arrived with a box i was excited as it was something i had given up on ever getting here.

I don't  know about you but i don't go upstairs much during the day, once i have made the bed that's it, unless i have to and get something out the airing cupboard or put washing away i never go back up til bath time. I have a downstairs loo which helps.

So back to my parcel, it was a rack for the back of my bath, this area is a pain in my bum. We have teenagers so everything is piled up and we have more products which are half empty or empty and just left, it looks unsightly.
It took 30 seconds to put it together and 10 minutes to sort out, i did take a bin bag and dump all the empties and old stuff.
Before...
After..
It just looks so much cleaner and tidier.

So that is my Saturday. Changed but ok, things change and you have to learn to change with it or you will get stuck and become bored. As the year goes on i will be out in the garden doing things whilst Simon is baking or just relaxing reading or catching up on my blog reading list which i did today, i absolutely adore Grandma Donna, so simple and i feel relaxed after reading her blog. And to top it off Simon does Saturday Tea for us all. Salad , ham and cobs fresh from the oven.

Life is so different for us as a family compared to how it was when we first got married but it has all been good changes, better for us and better quality of life and time spent together. Simon always amazes me with his baking ,well to be fair anything he puts his mind to he will do it and do it well. His bread is the absolute best and makes our home smell delicious that and the fact he has put up with me for 40 years , patience of a saint that man has.
So Saturday is more or less my day off.
Tomorrow will be busy but i have just enjoyed my day today.
Take care all
Love Ftm🌼
