Stupidly excited..
Hello everyone , how are you all?
It's been a lovely few days here with the weather but today it is grey and windy, surprisingly not cold though, I have been getting all my laundry dry by about lunchtime every day, i do love to see it all out on the line and not using my tumble drier. I am hoping it stays this way so i don't have to use it very much as the prices are due to increase because of what is going on in the world. My son had to fill his car up and the garage only had a few pumps working and the queue was an almost 45 minute wait, he had no choice but to wait as he was on fumes.
We are all waiting for the knock on effect of what is going to hit us, so keeping my Pantry stocked up is absolutely vital at the moment, i haven't been panic buying just taking stock of what i have and adding bits to it. Trying to cut down our electric usage as well, but until the dust settles we will just be careful.
We have received our new Council Tax bill and also the Water Rates, all i can say is WTAF!!,..we will have to re adjust our budget and cut back on things, plans will have to be remade and shuffled around, when will it end is all i can think.
I have had to call the emergency line at the council as my boiler packed up overnight on Saturday, very nice plumber came out and temporarily fixed it and they are coming to replace parts tomorrow, i also have the repair men coming out to mend 2 window panes that have condensation in them, the seal is gone so tomorrow is going to be busy. Our brand new Green house is coming on Friday so the end of the week is going to be busy but that is ok.
We skipped our usual shopping day as the Mid Lent Fair is in town and it is chaotic, traffic diverted here there and everywhere, it is only for 3 days but the chaos it causes is immense. I have done my list and added extras to it.
Saturday was a stupidly exciting day for me, we bought a new Hoover and some throws for the sofa. I was almost pacing waiting for the Hoover to arrive, it is probably my age but i do love it when we get new household items and please tell me i am not the only one or else i am in trouble😉. It makes me feel good when they arrive as i know i have bought and paid for it, it's all ours and not on a credit card or Klarna. The Hoover was put through it's paces almost immediately and i was chuffed to bits as it did my rug and almost fluffed it back up ..it will take a few more goes to get it back all fluffy but i am persistant.
I bought some new covers for the sofa from Temu, they are washable and non slip, each set was just under a tenner, so for £20 i have a newish looking sofa. They are primarily for the dog, so if he has an accident i can whip them off and wash them.
The beauty is they have at least 7 different colours to choose from so if these prove to be to light and show up a lot of marks i will get a darker set but for now they look amazing and they feel so soft and give my room a whole new look.
I think the dog approves.
I treated myself to little yellow mug for Easter. Only 99p , afterwards it will go in my box until next year.I have cooked a lovely gammon joint and hubby will slice it later, we get through these as everybody love it with chips and beans or sandwiches or just in a salad.
I finally tackled the worst job in the house, sorting out underneath the sink..it was an absolute mess, things here and there, tons of cleaning products i will never use or bought and found out they are crap. I am a box keeper and will keep them until the item i bought is ok and doesn't need to be returned but because they are out of sight i totally forget about them. Well yesterday was the day i did it, i just emptied the lot and threw out what i don't need or want and kept the essentials. I also popped a little light under the shelf so i can pop it on and find exactly what i need. I kept the storage box and put all the spare light bulbs in it and also small tins of Varnish that need to be kept in doors.

When I moved into my bungalow the cupboard under the sink was full of bottles of cleaning stuff. I'm using it as I go along, but it's going to take a while to use it all up.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. that should save you some money, cleaning supplies are expensive.

Your sofas look lovely and your dog seems very pleased the new covers!
ReplyDeleteI inherited a lot of cleaning supplies when my Mum and Father-in-Law both died 4 years ago. I think they should keep me going for another few years yet.
Hi Tracy, Jack dog is lovely and comfy on the sofas, no accidents yet but it is best to be prepared. When we moved into our very first home i found Vim and Soda Crystals under the sink, this was before Google so i had to ask my neighbour what to do with them. I did use them and i replaced them as well, my sink was spotless.

The throws look lovely. We have 2 dogs & get through a lot of throws! I wonder if you'd let me know your thoughts on your lovely new Hoover? I've had a red Henry for years and although it's very good, I think I'd prefer an upright one now that I'm older. I used to have a Panasonic one when the kids were little which I loved, but sadly it's discontinued now.
ReplyDeleteHi.. I have done a post about my new hoover. I love it..
