Jam , Pancakes and Concrete
Hello everyone , how are you all?
What a week for making things, not only things to eat but things that needed doing as well.
I started off by making 7 jars of Raspberry Jam from the frozen fruits in my freezer, i have quite a lot left so i will be filling up my Pantry to see us through until the next crop of fresh fruit will arrive, i think to myself it's a good job everyone loves it, i do give some away as gifts.
After the wind i popped out to pick my Daffodils, such a shame they had only just started to flower and boom over in the night. You can just see them peeking out from behind the jam.I had a visit form a Magpie that has decided to nest in a huge Conifer near us, i know they are destructive and viewed as bad luck but they are really beautiful up close.
I made a batch of Pancakes for breakfasts for us all, lovely with butter and jam on top.
There are none left which is good, i did freeze another batch for next week.Hubby and the kiddos have been to the Allotments , we have had to buy some new Padlocks for the sheds as the others are rusty and just won't open, they had to hit them with a hammer to loosen them up a bit to get in the sheds. They missed a couple of days due to the wind and rain, the wind was absolutely awful and felt chilly. Nothing in the garden was knocked over or destroyed thankfully. The garden is covered in more dead wood that we had only just picked up when the wind hit us and re covered it all, we are not allowed on the grass at the moment as hubby put a feed on it as rain was forecast and it was the perfect time to do it. I got in touch with the company we bought our Greenhouse from to find out exactly where it is, turns out they are behind with orders / deliveries and it now won't be here until the end of March, i am disappointed but i also understand so we will wait for message to say it is on the way.
I popped to Home Bargains and got some bits and bobs when we went to pick up Fern from her early shift, i had a good look around and i think it's safe to say that you could save a bob or two on certain items from there.
I have had lovely visits from our older girls who came bearing gifts for tomorrow.
I have been to the Post Office to purchase a Postal Order , blimey i got charged almost £5 for the privilege.
Last but not least, the hubster and i made 4 loads of self levelling crete. The floor in the porch way is uneven and has been bugging us for years, mostly we just covered it with carpet tiles and left it, out of sight out of mind. With Jack dogs little accidents leaving stains and smells on them we decided to match the floor with the kitchen and porch tiles but first we have to level it. Thank god all we had to do was make sure it was dirt and dust free, then mix it in batches with water and a mixing tool. It was amazing how fast it started to set in the bucket and me and hubby had a rotation of buckets, mixing, pouring and making sure we covered the floor properly. We had to be fast and it was bad luck that the drill battery started to lose power halfway through the first one, we gave up and got the electric drill out, much better and we got it done. Now it is drying out nicely and we have a plank to walk over if we need anything from the back Pantry.
We are hoping to get the new floor tiles down next week at some point. It will be so nice to have it all done and just looking clean and fresh all the way through, if any accidents happen it should be a lot easier to clean up.
So yep i made concrete as well this week, never made it before and it's not something i wouldn't do again if i had to.
I hope that you have all had a lovely week and a chill weekend.
Love Ftm🌼

Looks like a job well done, I've never made concrete but I did used to make something called chocolate concrete for school fetes.
ReplyDeleteMe and my husband once made concrete in a bucket with a special drill bit mixer attached. We thought we were great until he pulled out the mixer while it was still spinning and concrete splattered all over the kitchen. We were racing around like mad trying to clean everything up and breathed a sigh of relief when we managed it. Went back to our cement bucket to find it was rock solid and had taken our mixer attachment prisoner. That was our first and last time with cement.
