The end of January..

 Hello everyone how are you all?

O for crying out loud it's still January..it's nearly done people just hang in there.

For a lot of people it is the longest pay month..we are lucky and get paid halfway through the month which is a blessing , but still it's along time between. Our finances are in pretty good shape thankfully and just shopping for what we need helps a lot. We have had some expense with garden supplies but these were accounted for last year and the money was saved for this.

My poor husband has the Gardening blues. The atrocious weather has put our Garden plan and Allotments on total hold, he looks out the window and curses the weather, pretty sure it is retaliation when it starts to chuck it down after he has finished, almost like it is sticking two fingers up to him. He loves to be outside and getting down and dirty amongst his veggies and flowers, getting his hands all filthy and sweating, deep down he loves it. He loves to potter about and sort his never ending supply of Seeds and Catalogues plus all of his home made Compost. Being stuck inside is unbearable for him, it is any chance and he is out the door, between showers to check his bike and sheds . I think by the time he can get outside i will need a new carpet , he is seriously wearing a track in it with his bored wandering  back and forth with little Jack dog faithfully following behind him, where ever hubby is , so is  the dog.

The only thing we have to actually do in the house to keep us busy is changing the Kitchen floor, we started today by pulling out all the appliances and cleaning any dirt or dust that was under them, making sure that anything sticky was cleaned off , Jam that somehow gotten under the oven or spits of fat that shot out the frying pan and got gunk all over them, terribly important job to get it all cleaned so the new floor goes down and stays down.

I for one don't actually mind the weather, it is what it is and i no longer worry about it, there is nothing i can do about it so i just try to make the most of being indoors. Reading, baking and being with my family. Mind you saying that there is only so much deep cleaning you can do without turning your house into a show home and i don't want that, my house is a home and we live in it.

I have re-organised til the cows come home, de - cluttered til i think it echoes and donated to charity clothes , shoes and bedding, my freezers are sorted and so is my back Pantry, my little Pantry needs doing but if the weather stays this way then it will be done sooner rather than later.

Speaking of Freezers , i found about 9 meals i had done last year and forgot about, mostly Bolognese, Lasagnas , Goulash and Meatballs, plus some fruit bases for pies and crumbles, these have been moved to the top so i can grab one when i want it.I had Goulash today and it was warming and delicious.

Hubby had Fried eggs on toast, he doesn't like spicy food but i have to admit his looked good.

The only bonus to this long month is that it i getting lighter at night. Can't think of anything else that's  a bonus for this month, but please let me know if you think of one. January used to be a time of really good sales but not anymore as there is a sale at the end of every month now and you can get what ever you need online and use vouchers or codes to get some good deals. I can remember watching the crush at Harrods with people almost fighting over the items they wanted. Not anymore they all arrive via delivery vans these days, there used to something exciting about going to the sales, how much you could get for your money and have a day of it with family and friends. Coming home all excited with your things and a little regret over not getting that other thing you should have.

I am off now to enjoy some peace and quiet, the only company i have tonight is the dog and he is snoozing away in the corner so basically i am alone.The kiddos are upstairs, some are at work tomorrow and one isn't, so they will be having an early night ready for a busy day tomorrow.
