Repair week..

Hello everyone, how are you all?

It's been a week of repairs, my washing machine sprung a leak and it seems to have been doing it for a while, the floor underneath is ruined and we had to remove the floor tiles, just a steady little drip over months and i never noticed until i saw wet footprints tracking across the kitchen and couldn't fathom  where they came from. I thought maybe the dog peed and no one noticed but it wasn't yellow and didn't smell. Then i thought maybe the girls washing up spilt water and didn't clean up, no because as soon as i dried it all it was back, so the only other possibility was the washing machine. Hubby pulled it out and sure enough there was a puddle. The floor tiles were buckled and lifting so they were removed and the puddle was dried up but it was back later.

It's amazing the things that go through your mind when it does things like these, was it the filter, so we emptied that and cleaned it all out and it was still dripping, was it the door seal or just getting old it was none of them. I had big cloths down to soak it all up, i arranged my repair and i didn't have to wait long, thank god for the insurance on it. Lovely man who fixed it in about 10 minutes, seems my dispenser drawer had bit the dust and the back of it was letting water through but only a little every time i washed and causing a constant drip. We over reacted in between and decided if it was beyond repair we would have a new one, thankfully it was all good. I am glad i didn't cancel the insurance on it as it didn't cost me a penny. The only thing that is going to cost is a new floor. I will say in our defense that we were thinking of replacing it all anyway the leak has just brought it forward. We have measured, priced and looked for some that will go all the way through the kitchen, porch and downstairs toilet. We had to take up the carpet tiles in the porch and toilet as there wasn't one that the dog hadn't peed or pooped on when he was poorly. They were scrubbed and disinfected but you could still see and smell something, plus the dog thought it was ok to pee on them when no one was looking and he couldn't be bothered to go outside.

Now the leak is fixed and we have a plan we are just waiting for the floor to dry out properly before we lay a new floor.

The other repair was our son's car, it went for a service and did need some work which was sorted but then it started to make an awful knocking noise on the right hand side wheel. He took it back and they said it was a loose nut or something and had a look and said they had done it, as he drove away it got worse and really loud, so he turned around and took it back. They couldn't look at it there and then as they had others to do, so they collected it the next day and you will never guess what it was. Somehow or other they found a huge stone stuck in between the brake pads and spring, now really Sam does not go off roading and there is no way that stone could wedge in there, you can't actually say what you think as they are normally quite good, honestly if it was me they gave that explanation to the silence would have been endless. We personally think they forgot to tighten up nuts ,plus not looking properly the second time and used the stone as an excuse and it was a free repair which says a lot.Next time pick a smaller one and we might believe you. However for now the car is fixed and good to go til next year.

So one good and one not so good but both done. Now it's waiting for the floor to dry out before we order and also hoping and praying the garden dries up. We are still waiting for dry days so we can crack on with the garden plans. Our new slabs and fencing arrived and we spent a while sorting it out and storing it but then it did nothing but rain since.

I found some goodies in a deep dive in the chest freezer, leftovers from the buffet food we had.

Duck spring rolls and King Prawns in batter. Delicious.
My beautiful Daisy has fully opened up now and is brightening up my dining room table.

So beautiful.

The sun is shining today and there is a bit of a breeze no rain yet so far so good. We have our fingers crossed for dry weather or am i fooling myself. The nights are starting to draw out ,i have my Alexa set to switch the lights on when it's sunset and it is definitely getting longer each day. Soon be Spring time and then it will be all action and i for one cannot wait.

I hope you all have a good day/weekend.

Love to you all
