Doves Farm Flour.

Hello everyone, how are you all?

It's October and the weather is starting to cool a little. So far we have celebrated 2 birthdays and had an all important visit to the Orthodontist which has taken almost 2 years to get. Not quite sure why it has taken this long, i know it's a long long long list and to be honest we were lucky to get the appointment when we did as he only visits our Dental Practice on Fridays. Iris has some work to do of her own and when we see him again he will discuss the Braces she needs. So hopefully she gets done before she is 18.

On our way home we popped into Home Bargains,,ooh it was so busy but my o my do they have some wonderful stuff, i know its mostly tat but i do love me some tat. Then we went to Poundland, no where near as busy but still had some bargains, we didn't have the time really to have a good look around so we will go back another time.

I have had a busyish week. I re organized my back Pantry and moved my Spinner into the porch area where it will stay permanently, no more carrying it to and from the back Pantry to the kitchen and back again. Where it is now i will keep it, it's not in the way and it fits nicely. I bought a new duo bin, it's a lot smaller and slimmer and i can now have my back door wide open without it swinging back and hitting you coz it bangs on the bins. The old bins have been put to good use , one is for composting and the other is now awaiting tools in hubby's shed. I will remove the labels and put my own on them .

We have at last decorated our bedroom, it didn't get the full works as we don't really want to change much in there. I stripped off the wallpaper on the outside wall as we had a little mould issue last Winter and it got underneath the paper and it just looked ugly and breathing in mould spores are really not good for your health.  I bought some HG Foam Mould Killer ,that stuff really works and fast,so no more mould. We had a lot of wall patching to do and filling, the wall then had an under coat of our hallway paint and then 2 coats of paint that matches the rest of the room. It  really made a big difference straight away. It looked brighter cleaner and mould free. We moved the bed from under the window to other side of the room and some jiggling of furniture and lots of decluttering, we finally got it done. Seems weird to be sleeping in a different direction as for years i have slept under the window but opposite the door, so anytime in the night anyone went to the loo and put the light on i would get disturbed by it, not any longer thank goodness. For a long time i have wanted to change my curtains in the bedroom to the gorgeous Navy Blue ones i had in my dining room, but i had a normal curtain rail with curtain hooks and unfortunately my blue ones are pole ones. We did buy a pole, and even though its nice i was disappointed with it. We both wanted a wooden pole and thought we had found one , it looked wooden and no where in the description did it say it was metal with wood grain effect on it, don't get me wrong it looks amazing but when you pull those curtains across it sounds like a thousand nails on a blackboard so you know when anyone is getting up in the morning ,better than an alarm clock. I will put up a pic when it is all done and complete. I still have a few bits left to sort out.

I did have a purge on my books and donated about 30 to the local Post Office..then bought 4 more 😂.Don't tell anyone.

We had an early morning visit from this cheeky chappie.

Hopefully we will see him again at some point.

As you all know my lovely hubby is a bread maker extraordinaire.Beautiful cobs, loaves and tea cakes. In order to make our own we decided to buy a flour mill and dough mixer.
Pop over to his blog to have a more in depth look.

I have to give Doves Farm a huge shout out..they were amazing. My hubby likes to research things before spending any money ( unlike me). He messaged them to find out the ingredients and if any additional bleaching agents were added to the flours, they were swift in their response and very informative. We decided to go ahead and buy 2 tester bags of flour before we bought a sack of flour or grain from them. It arrived well packed and within 24 hours.

The bread has turned out lovely and it rose well too. So i think we will be definitely buying our flour and grain from them, It's all organic and not too badly priced for us to manage on our budget.
It's our mission to make our own as much as possible and try to do it within our finances, work out how much it will cost and compare buying in bulk to buying weekly and shop around for good prices. Storage is another issue, we need some good airtight strong containers to keep it all dry and in good condition. This was the reason i re organised the Pantry so i can fit tubs in if i have to.

My gorgeous Virginia Creeper is now in full blown red,a deep dark red with little bits of Burgundy in it.
We have a Pumpkin in the porch with more to come, i will build a nice little pile for Autumn.

So that has been my week up to now and today i have done not a lot. Putting my feet up and watching absolute crap on the telly.
Take care everyone
Love Ftm🍂
