Lots going on..
Hello everyone , how are you on this very hot and muggy day?
It is currently raining and very cloudy here with the threat of storms, well bring it on then, i don't mind the warm but being humid and sweaty is not my fave thing. I want some cooler air and a fresh breeze.
The allotments have been suffering and hubby and kiddos have been daily to water and make sure everything is ok. We have had plenty of Strawberries and Rhubarb but they are now slowing down, I have made pie fillings and also frozen quite a lot of it for puddings. The allotments are all planted up now with the last ones going in over the last few weeks, beans, swede, cabbage and the rest of the bedding in as well. We have a fox problem at the allotments and to be honest people are encouraging it with its cubs, so far they have dug up some spuds and gnawed on onions plus they have pooped everywhere. I am unsure what we can do to stop them , lots of people have fenced off their plots but they find a way in. Not really what we want but until people stop feeding them they will be there.
The Beetroot is coming and we have boiled it, sliced it and frozen it, this will be pulled out the freezer and defrosted then the pickling liquid will be poured over it and it is beautiful.I have been re decorating the dining room slowly, trust me to pick the hottest week to start. I have also had a massive clear out of crap and its gone and i feel lighter and my dining room looks clearer and larger. So far it has cost nothing, i already had the paint from the kitchen. I have some curtains in my Amazon basket and new chair covers which will total just under £40. My daughter has given me some absolutely gorgeous table mats and i already have some table cloths. I can't wait to get it done and have a new calming vibe in there.
We dug out the fans and air conditioning unit which the dog absolutely loves.
Me and the girls have been busy baking and we also re stocked the Pantry and sorted the chest freezer out. I joined the British Gas Peak Save..i get half price electricity for about 3 hours every few weeks, these afternoons are when i bake and do anything extra that i need to do, so far this year i have saved over £25 on my electric, probably not a lot in the grand scheme of things but it all helps.
