Hello..

Hi everyone..how are you all?

Well a lot has changed since i did my last post. We haven't been away just super busy with everything.
It seems our allotments are coming in very handy at the moment. All the crops are being harvested and i have been sorting, blanching and freezing.
The Potatoes have done amazingly well considering we had drought conditions and all that awful heat,
The very first sweetcorn and believe me it is delicious, also the first beans have been picked and eaten.
There is now one less Apple tree..poor thing has not given any fruit for 3 years now and it had an nfestation. So it got chopped down.Letting more light in and the other plants are loving it..i unfortunately can now see over the back and i don't like the gap . We are going to see if we can have another.
More corn with carrots and beetroots.

Bucket of beans
Wheel barrow of corn..
Bucket of carrots
We have spent most afternoons prepping it all for either freezing or pickling.

These are my bargains from the local sale trail
Glass vases £1 the pair
Jumper £1
2 t shirts 50p each
A beautiful jacket from M&S 50p..i know right..its gorgeous. Fully lined and fits like a dream.
Books £1 for the set..picture frame 50p.
Absolute bargains all of them especially when every penny counts even more now than ever.
Its another sale trail this weekend so i will be going again. I need some jumpers for winter and just have a nosy about.
So what the hell has actually happened in the world..i know i know the war in Ukraine but wowsers just how much has everything darn thing shot up in price.
I went to Aldi on Monday with my brother to do a Pantry shop and it was so busy. I have to admit i have never seen so many people in the place. I think maybe i planned it right..i had a full trolley of tinned and packet goods with lots of fresh meat for freezing..£121.46..not bad i don't think. My Pantry is now totally replenished and my chest freezer is packed with meat and allotment veggies. We are hoping that it will last us a while and see us through until hopefully the price of food goes back to some kind of normal.
We have spoken to the girls and dude and explained that they can no longer just leave lights on or laptops and computers.. thankfully they are all grown up enough to understand. have made sure that my freezers are frost free and running efficiently and my fridges have been sorted to run as well.
We got rid of the kettle and have a hot water dispenser instead. Its absolutely brilliant. Boils just what you need and thats it. One cup or mug you just change the dial it only takes 15 seconds and is supposed to be energy saving.
I am now washing every 2 days and line drying it all..i already have 2 clothes horses from years ago and i did invest in an over door air drier from Wilko's..its amazing and takes a lot of laundry.

I am so thankful i don't have school uniforms to buy..all i had to buy this year is another box of paper, which is good considering the last box i bought was 2 years ago and i have only just run out.
I had an email from British Gas informing me my DD was to go up..go up are they freaking kidding..it shot up. Then i got another saying as i was on a fixed tariff until next year my price was capped. Really? And that i didn't need to worry. Like that helps.
I have seen people saying that they are going to cancel their DD in October..why???..you need Electric and Gas..if you don't pay then they will take you to court and get a judgement against you. You cannot win folks. If you are having trouble paying just ring them and workout a plan..i know its not ideal and you shouldn't have to but they are offering help.
At this moment in time i am grateful for everything i have and i am going to make the most of it.
Time to batten down the hatches and make do.
take care everyone
ftm
