Pond update.

 Hello everyone, how are you?

What a lovely day it is. Unfortunately its going to get a little too hot for me next week but i will be keeping cool in the shade and doing most jobs early morning.

Hubby has finished fixing the pond and we have re-filled it and let the water de-chlorinate over 3-4 days. We were going to spend money on buying a chemical that does it for you but thankfully he read on a Pondkeepers forum that you just have to wait a few days depending on the size of your pond.

We put the plants back in and wow they took off at a pace and the birds are drinking from it now and surprise surprise the frogs are back. I reckon the water will be ok for the fish.

The big blue hoops are going to be spray painted black with black netting draped over them and pinned down.. we have to widen the borders.

We put these back on Tuesday and they broke the surface this morning so we do not have to replace them.

Its going to look like a big black tunnel but it should put a total stop to the Heron who thinks our garden is his One Stop Shop..

Mrs. Blackbird..if she is drinking then the water is good.

My Tadpoles didn't all make it..a few but thats it. Hopefully they make it through the year and come back .

Once this is done then we will get back to the rest of the garden..lots of flowers to go in and have a damn good tidy up.

The allotments are thriving. Strawberries are finished until the next batch..the Romaine lettuce have gone over but the kiddos are having these for their Snails..yuk.

We have some absolutely delightful All Year Round Cos..totally delicious.

I have blanched and frozen about 10 Cabbages so far but that's it until the next lot are ready.

New Potatoes are coming to an end as they are getting bigger but still taste so good with butter or Asda's own Buttery Spread, before these get too big i am going to cook some and freeze for Christmas Dinner, i have done this a few years running and they always go down well.

We have had some Beetroots and they are superb. The next lot will be cooked and some will be  frozen for later in the year.

Our Tomatoes are doing great under the dining room window and i will soon be tucking into them.

I have also planted some Onions, Cabbage and beans in the borders to try and maximise our food production. Even if i only get half i will be happy with that, seeing as our resident Pigeon Neville is busy patrolling and pulling things up, i will be lucky to get half..he really is a bit thick..i scare him off but 5 minutes later he is back😖.
