Manic Monday..for me anyway.

Hello all,how are you doing today?

Like my title says its been a Manic Monday for me.
A case of "on your marks ,get set and go and don't stop til you get done"
I had to leave the house early to get to a dental appointment..our Dentist is on the other side of town,a good 45 minute walk away..i got there sat down and whoosh i was called in. I had my filling done and had a chat with the dentist about it..he doesn't hold out much hope for it staying in as there was hardly anything left of my tooth to attach the filling too..but he did say he would make me a small denture if i had to have it removed so i don't get sunken cheeks.
Then i had to walk back to town to meet up with hubby and the girls(who really could do without having to be dragged to town but had no choice), we went to Specsavers to pick up new glasses for Iris, hubby and myself.Got those sorted and off home again..made it back just before it literally chucked it down.We took brollies with us just incase ..coz you can bet your last penny if we hadn't then it would have soaked us..so back home..made lunch and a cuppa then the hairdresser arrived. She did mine real short this time..it just seems to grow so quickly and very thick..the girls had fringes and backs trimmed..hoovered up all the hair  and got that sorted.

I was a little annoyed i had so much to do in one day but it was bad timing with everything.I daren't cancel my dental appointment as it takes so long to get another and i for some reason thought it was tomorrow until i got a confirmation email on Friday,Specsavers was hubby's idea to go pick them up as he desperately needed his and the Hairdresser was booked a month ago.
Honestly i don't think i have stopped since i got up.Now i am having a lovely cuppa and a sit down.
Do you ever have those days where its non stop?

Had a little company...

Hello all,how are you doing today?
Have you survived Doris?
We have been outside chasing plastic greenhouse panels..and then standing on rickety steps to fix them back in place..gosh i hate the wind..its scares the living day lights out of me.Or in my best flowertot impression"it scares the petals offa me"..
Yesterday we had our daughter Fionna and grand daughter Ellanor for the day..Fionna was quite lively company..Ellanor however slept all the way through..until home time..best let sleeping babies sleep.I am not one of those grannies that insists on picking babies up..it drove me potty when i had little ones and i soon learnt to speak up..believe me no-one touched my babies unless i let them. There is plenty of time for cuddles when she gets bigger. She does have that gorgeous baby smell.

She nows weighs in at 9lb..but she is so tiny..absolutely nothing on her at all..such a cutie.
Beautiful baby girl.

Isn't my hubby clever..and it pays to shop locally...

I have a clever husband and a practical one as well..he made a book case for the girls bedroom.
It was quite a tight spot and narrow as well..the ones we found onlne were coming up to the £40 mark and more ,why i don't know..surely a slimmer book case would be cheaper but that wasn't the case.
We have a local wood merchant..Woodlines..they are brilliant. I rang and explained what i needed and what is was for..the man was amazing and very patient with me..turns out they cut it to size for me,delivered it and only charged me £23.16 this was including VAT..it arrived neatly wrapped in card and cut to size..the size hubby has measured out and worked out how many shelves we needed and all that jazz..bless him. This has saved us some money and i am so pleased with it.
It took him a few hours to sort it and then he and the girls put it together..what do you think.
Its the slimmer one..it looks pretty good doesn't it and less than what we were going to pay..smart man.
As you can see Iris has claimed it..which is brilliant as now i don't get a guilt trip if i stand or stub my toe on her ponies..it is their job to dust  them and keep them clean and tidy.
The floor is now clear of toys and books...it has freed up so much space. What a clever man i married.
take care all

Tracked down the culprit..

Hello all, how are you today?
Isn't it weird weather..it looks like it might chuck it down any moment but its unusually warm..which is a totally nice change from freezing.
Now i know you can remember my allergic reaction to where i swelled up and felt pretty grotty. At first i assumed it was old wool and the fibres as i was making pom poms..but i made this over the last week and not once did i swell up..or itch.
A gorgeous pom pom wreath..i know its not perfect but hey it looks ok to me.
This is the culprit..i never even thought about it until my friend said last week that she had a reaction to some perfume her husband had bought her.It rang alarm bells in my head.
I can't have Lillies in the house as i swell up and sneeze for days..i only had a tiny dab of this on my wrist and bang i was the Michelin man..my son was mortified when i told him as he bought it for me as part of a set for Christmas..he told me to sell it and buy some that i do like..bless him.
So its languishing on Ebay.
But now i know its that, it means my pom pom rug is back on the menu. I am so looking forward to making it..it only takes 5 minutes at most to make a pom pom with a little gadget i bought off Ebay..so easy to use..once you have deciphered the instructions that is.
Right ladies i am off to get started..
take care all

Not another one..

Hello all, i hope that your all fine today?
OK..so something has gone on..not sure what but yet another of my favourite blogs has disappeared.
I tried yesterday to have a read and catch up with Snittykitty..only to find a woman extolling the virtues of yoga..nothing wrong with that at all,but it was snittykitty's blog name. I tried again later on and the same.
Its such a shame as i absolutely adore Sue..her no nonesense attitude and forthright style often make me spit tea across the sreen and laugh hysterically . If your reading this Sue let us know your ok ..we do miss you.

Coincidence???

Hello all, how are you?
Ok this is strange ..my parents birthdays are on the same day..three years apart but on the same day.
Growing up i thought all parents had their birthdays on the same day.
It was only when i went to school i was shocked to find this is not the case.
Now, when i met my hubby i went to meet his parents, lovely people..,and i could not have asked for better in-laws to be honest.
So imagine my surprise to find out that they also have a birthday on the same day as each other..three years apart again.
Now how often do you think that coincidence happens. Not very i bet.

Unexpected treat..

Hello all,how are you?
Its been cold, damp, miserable and down right grey here in Lincolnshire..we have been saving money where we can with the heating but i down right refuse to be cold in my home. We wear slippers, socks and big chunky jumpers but at times you need that heating on to keep the house warm.We have thermal blinds, thermal lined black out curtains at virtually every window,we have nice thick door curtains up at front and back doors..so we are cosy and comfy. Not over warm but just right. I won a small personal battle i have had with my hubby for months.i finally got him to wear his big housecoat after his bath at night..yay..it keeps him lovely and warm for hours.
This kind of weather is so dreary..but the good news is that apparently its going to warm up next week. There are signs of life in the garden..i have little green shoots for my bulbs coming up and the lilac has big buds on it..not much longer til Spring we just got to keep going until then.
The girls have been busy baking..they made flapjack and i took pictures which they made into a step by step instruction booklet.
I baked and made lots for the week..we are hoping to have guests and i like to offer cake with the tea or coffee.
We have been to see little Ellanor again..o she is filling out now..she made her mummy cry when she smiled at her for the first time..how beautiful is that. Her little nickname for now is Nora..
My daughter had a pamper night last night..a bath bomb, face mask, did her hair and nails..she was glowing this morning, her life has been non stop since the little one arrived so she treated herself..she bought me this as well..thankfully its half term next week so she may catch up with herself coming the other way bless her.

A little treat for me..a bath bomb, face mask, face scrub and some facial oil..i feel like a million pounds at the moment all soft and smooth..its wonderful what an unexpected treat can do for you.I think sometimes you get so busy and wrapped in daily life that you forget the little things that make you feel so good.I know i do..i honestly can't remember the last time i had a face mask or scrub or even a bath bomb..well from now on i think a little pamper will be on the menu once a month.
Thanks Fi..you made me feel great.
What about you lovely people, have you ever had an unexpected little treat that just made you feel amazing.

Happy Birthday..

Today is our eldest daughters birthday.
It doesn't seem 5 minutes since i first saw your gorgeous little face and such tiny little fingers. Those gorgeous baby blue eyes and a little blonde fuzz on your head. You were our precious baby girl and still are.I was on cloud nine and your dad literally floated home from the hospital.Today is the day we became parents..and it has been our honour and privilege to watch you grow into the beautiful woman you have become.
Love you always
mum & dad

Fabulous freebie..

Hello all,how are you?
Now i don't usually get many freebies ..especially the ones you have design yourself..mine always turn out bloody awful..but this time i hit the jackpot and finally got it right.
Just before Christmas i received an email from British Gas they were giving me a code for a free canvas print from Photobox..well i tried my code and it seems that millions of others had done the same and the system crashed..i received an apology and a promise of another one in the future. I had honestly forgotten about it and last week i received another...this time it worked.
Now design is not one of my strong points..but i think i got this pretty much perfect.
What do you think?

This quote sums it up..i love it.

Remember this little chap..

Hello all,how are you?
Can you remember this little chap..who reduced me to tears and caused me to wonder why?
Well look at him now..what a total transformation thanks to the lovely lady who found him and saved him.I wish him a long and good life and the lady is just an angel.

His name is Hope..and he looks amazing and healthy and loved.
Bless him.

WHAT!!!!

Ok..the world has gone bonkers..does anyone else find this funny, ridiculous and daft.
Don't get me wrong i feel for the poor farmer in the countries affected..but seriously is it the end of the world..people have gone crazy today in Asda and Lidl to get them. Might do us some good to not have any on tap so to speak..in a way it might encourage people to grow their own and not rely on supermarkets so much..in my little vision this then takes off and more and more people get the growing bug and enjoy it.If only.
However,i have heard that there will aslo be a shortage of Courgettes and Tomatoes..we were joking about keeping ours under lock and key..but hubby told me that people already steal veggies so these 2 items will be on top of the list..bit like the  blackmarket lol.
Being honest i can live without a lettuce ..eating seasonal veg has a lot going for it.
And by that i mean our seasons not some far flung warm country.
What about you ? Has it made you chuckle or run to the shop to get one?
