Hello all,how are you on this wet Bank Holiday?
Well for many years ,since i was a teenager actually i have never left the house without make up on..dashing around in the mornings to get children sorted for schools and nurseries to make sure i had the time to put it on.
I would feel naked with out it to be honest..if we had visitors coming on it went.Always took some with me in my handbag as well to touch up .
Over the last few months i have decided i am not doing it any more..don't get me wrong i still put a little on to go out but last week i didn't..it felt so good to be bare faced.
The main reason i have done this is i feel comfortable in my own skin now..is taken 49 years but i finally got there..i am not perfect but gave the illusion of being it with my face made up..so now you can see i have small bags under my eyes and all my wrinkles are on show for the world to see and do you know what ladies..i don't care..i feel great and hubby assures me i look it as well..apparently i look fresh faced and younger..but i feel good as well..and my face doesn't feel so heavy with it covered in make up.
Don't get me wrong i am not saying i won't wear it ever again but if we go somewhere then a little will be applied..as i tell my girls make up is meant to accentuate not cover..
Another reason is that i have a nasty looking mole on the side of my nose..no amount of make up can cover that..it just makes it stick out more..when i have make up on it irritates it..i am currently waiting to see a Skin Specialist at the Hospital to have it assessed..i had one like it a few years ago and they froze it off..so here's hoping they can do that with this one..its so close to my eye if it gets any bigger it will impede my vision lol.
My skincare routine over the last year or two has changed as well..i used to use wipes but now i use warm and cold water..with a moisturiser from Lidl's..thats it..once a week i do a face mask..its makes my skin feel so soft and glowing. Its a charcoal one that you leave on for 10 minutes then rinse off..i can feel it getting tighter and panic lol..thats when it comes off.
My skin feels better and looks better as well..i don't get the spots i used too anymore either.
So how about you ladies? Have you gone make up free or just wear a little bit?
Has your skincare routine changed over time?
What are your tips for lovely glowing skin?
Hello all,how are you today?
Well i have been so busy here..the allotments are now in full swing and boy did we have a lot of catching up to do..never again are we going to leave it..we ache in places you shouldn't.But hopefully now we can keep on top of it all.
I have had numerous visitors over the last week or so..firstly the Education Authority to check on the girls progress with Home Schooling..we had to make sure we had finished projects and then set it all out in groups ,each girl had her own section and then joint projects also..we passed Yay..i like the lady that comes she is always so enthusiastic and takes the time to actually look at the work and progress they have made. Its nice to hear that we are doing well. She also has some good ideas and resources too..we always make her welcome and i would rather she comes so i know we are doing ok..it seems some parents are very anti-authority and are quite rude and aggressive..shame as she is only there to help if you need it.
We have had the Council around doing surveys..the first one was on the boiler and radiators..seems they are now obsolete and will need replacing,so they will be coming sometime in July to do this work. Then i had to have an Asbestos survey..i waited all day and he never showed up..when i rang it seems i should have had a phone call to tell me he would not be coming due to delays..so he is coming next week..then i had the company around that services the boilers..he reckons our boiler is a cobbled together one as he has never seen the like of it ever..he did service it even though its being replaced.
Poor hubby had to go for a blood test to check his medication isn't affecting his liver or kidney function..he was told it would be at least a week for any results..so imagine his surprise to get a phone call the next day saying he had to see the doctor..quite worrying really. Anyway he went and was told his Cholesterol has shot back up to 5.4..it was 4.7 last year ,but we both admit the crisps have made a come back just lately so its no more crisps and we are both now on a diet to lose a few pounds/stone and get healthy..we are not getting any younger and still have small children to raise and we want to be around for them and the older ones too. So i am sat here munching on an apple instead of crisps. He is on Statins already but the Doctor advised him to try to get it down himself before upping his pills.
I have upcycled the old yellow chair into a lovely little book chair..hubby thankfully sanded it down in his shed for me..otherwise i would still be doing it..i think he felt sorry for me..standing there sanding it down by hand..he took it away, dismantled it,sanded it,re-assembled it and gave it back to me within hours..
I printed off a Taxegdo and glued it on..
All the Library books go on it..that way i can't lose any or leave any behind.
My dad gave us a fan..its a big tall one but the bottom rails were broken and wonky..it was leaning all over..so my very clever hubby took them down the shed and made some new cross rails for the bottom..just made from old pallet wood..but now its stable and doesn't look like its going to fall over everytime its switched on..its been a blessed relief to have one.I will paint them so the match the fan..
I was looking through my tea-towel cupboard and came across this..an insert for a box..i don't have a box that small so i used it on a box i did have..the girls love it and call it the fruit box..the insert was a gift from my friend..thank you.
I have been listing on Ebay again and have sold quite a few things. Some people are so impatient..i sold a dress and within hours i got an email asking why i hadn't posted it..crikey ..i did post the next morning but i ain't running out to do it in the rain.
Hasn't the weather been blooming gorgeous..we are hoping it lasts. We have plans to have a BBQ over the weekend and just relax..it feels like the last few weeks have been a whirlwind.
How about you ladies/gents..have you been busy?
No words can ever describe the pure horror or heart break these poor families are going through.
The evil scum who did this should rot in hell..and as for twitter letting all those tweets go up from ISIS bragging..well how about they get shut down for a week or 2...i cannot believe that they won't hand over information or even inform the authorities about tweets supporting or proposing terrorist acts. And as for saying it breaches the persons human rights..well tough..what about those poor children..where are their human rights.
My heart goes out to all the families who have lost loved ones..
Hello all..as you may know i love House plants..but by crikey they can be expensive to buy.
I try to get cuttings if i can but its hit and miss if they take or not.
One of my favourite plants is the Spider Plant..its almost indestructable and can be moved all over with no ill effects,in my experience. It also grows huge if you look after it properly.. i love to see them with the leaves hanging down.
Today we had to remove some of the babies off the mother plants..instead of just stcking them in a jar we decided to pretty them up a bit..the deal is this..if and its a BIG IF..if the girls can look after them and then pot them on they can have them in their bedroom..both love the house plants we have and help me to look after them but they have never done it by themselves..so its a tester really.
I had some little jars in a crate ..small but big enough to take the babies..they popped labels on the bottles so no mix ups happen..and then put the plants in.
So fingers crossed i can hopefully inspire the girls to look after them and grow their own.
Hello all, how are you?
Hasn't the weather been glorious for the last few days, unfortunately it rained today but i do think the gardens and allotment needed it.
We went out for the day to Belton House yesterday..it was sunny but cool..we went all over the woodland and then around to the coffee shop for a quick drink then off again. This time we went all around the lakes and i got some amazing pictures..well i got 265 of them but won't put them up just a few.
We had our picnic lunch in the little stone house we always do..so lovely.
We went off the pathway and around the overgrown part..Fern bless her came very close to an Adder,,it was long and brown..she didn't panic but stopped walking and very slowly backed away and went to her dad,we were only a few steps behind but it was a scare. After that we stayed on the pathway.
Unfortunately it moved real fast and i couldn't get a picture but i did see it, so i know what it was.I was proud of Fern for not screaming and running..she was very calm and now cannot wait to tell her friends.
So be warned this is a picture heavy post
It was a wonderful day..we got home and literally devoured our Dinner..the girls were worn out and went to bed quite early.
I am so glad we chose yesterday to go.It was a truly welcome break for us all..i never take my phone and hubby couldn't get a signal thankfully. The peace and quiet of it all was just what we all needed.
Hello all,how are you today?
I am dumbfounded and quite annoyed.
My son bought me a very nice watch for Christmas..i wear it all the time its a big chunky red one..can't miss it.
I took it off on Friday night ,put it on the bed before my bath..between then and bedtime it vanished.
Hubby hasn't moved it..i have had the bedroom to bits looking for it..its not under the bed,in the bed or somehow got mixed up in the duvet.its completely gone.
The girls haven't moved it neither has my son..so where is it?
I have been trying to remember if i moved it after my bath but nope i am sure i didn't.
It will turn up i hope as i really like it..
Have you ever had stuff go missing only to turn up somewhere completely different to where you think you left it?
I am fuming..absolutely livid.
In the front garden we have a little border that is full of lovely flowers and little plants..in the Winter when they have all died back its literally a Cat poo paradise. It stinks to high heaven and we have to clean it up..the neighbours look sheepish but never say anything.
So yesterday i was sweeping the front porch and caught a whiff..i could not believe it..my flowers have grown quite well and the border is filled with them..not a bit of dirt can be seen..so where did they poop..only on top of them..totally covered them in poo..thats it..am sick and tired of opening my door to the smell and bloody fed up of cleaning it up.
The border will be emptied and then either concreted or slate tiles will be put down.so they can't poo on it..it makes my blood boil..they are not my bloody cats yet i have to clean up the crap..i want to swear and say something else but i won't ..i think you catch my drift.
Its quite infuriating when your outside almost being sick cleaning it away and the neighbours can see you but always say "my cat uses a litter tray"..really..do you think i fell out the stupid tree.
And god help us from the dirty looks if we dare to shoo them away out the garden.
I am not a cat hater by any means but i hate what they leave behind.
Good morning all..how are you on this wet Bank Holiday?
Well i have had a few blogger problems but they seem to have sorted it now..flipping posts kept disappearing on me.
Its been busy here in the last few weeks..we have been to the allotments and started to sort them out..we have the greenhouse all tidied and emptied and ready for action..our little seedlings are coming along nicely.
The girls and i went through their wardrobes and sorted some nice little bundles for selling. And also found what needs to be replaced..mainly Fern's tops but apart from them she is ok for clothes.I will replace Ferns with money i make selling the bundles.
We did make a lovely Easter cake but we never got the chance to put the picture up so here it is..
It was delicious..
We have been busy doing some little craft items..Fern and i did these..
They are old Cigar boxes that have been hanging around for years..we painted them then Lacquered the tops so no scuff marks..all our school pens, pencils, crayons and felt tips fit nicely..and will look nice stacked up ..
We had a lovely visit from our Daughter Fionna along with little Nora..who is growing wonderfully..she was smiling and cooing at us all..such a happy little thing.
Aunty Iris in action..she adores the baby..
I bought myself a new book..something unheard of in this house..but i could not resist it and the price was just £2..
I love it and have been avidly reading it and making little notes for what i would like to do..
It has lots of old style recipes and storage ideas and also how to plan your pantry to make it more efficient..needless to say i feel a little revamp of my pantry coming on..also Season by Season ideas.
I bought this little beauty for a £1..i love it and it looks really good above my little bookcases in the living room.
This chair was given to me many years ago and i never bothered to paint it or fix it as it suited at the time..now the girls are too big for it i have decided this is our next craft and make over project..any ideas ladies..its very small and i did think of making it in to a book chair..sit in the corner with our Library books on it so they are all in one place..maybe a little stencilling on it..all ideas will be gratefully recieved.
I hope that your all good and enjoying the day..
