O come on..

Hello all,how are you today?

I bought a beautiful bundle of clothes for Fern off Ebay last week..the clothes are lovely and the price was good. How ever my post man was having hysterics when he delivered them this morning..said he had never seen that before and was surprised they were allowed to actually post it like that.

This is what he meant..
My phone is covering address..

A bloody carrier bag with tape around it..
Come on if your going to sell stuff then put it in a proper bag..it had holes in it as well..
I am having a serious conflict now..what feedback do i leave..clothes good considering they arrived in a carrier bag.Mind you at least they got here..thankfully.
I am shocked they did that..this is the first time i have ever had this.
What about you ladies have you had this before

  1. It is difficult Sara isn't it when you have to leave feedback. You wouldn't purposely leave bad feedback if it could be avoided, but surely the seller could have found some brown paper or a study plastic bag to send the garments.

As the postman said I am surprised the carrier bag managed to get through.

  2. Yes, I've had something sent to me in a carrier bag by a ' business seller' on ebay! I've also had replacement parts for the toilet cistern sent in a plastic bag - how they arrived intact with no protective wrapping I'll never know, and K has had an item of jewellery posted in an ordinry white envelope with no tissue paper or bubble wrp around it, and no tape to hold the envelope closed. Terrible, and nothing like the service I provide when I sell things.

    1. Thats awful..i sell a lot on Ebay and always make sure my parcels are wrapped and anything fragile or delicate is wrapped in bubble wrap..some of the baby clothes i sold i wrapped twice..first in tissue paper then a nice parcel bag..i pride myself on the fact that my parcels are professional even though i am a private seller..its just annoying..

  3. I've never had a delivery in a carrier bag. I once had something arrive that was wrapped in a good quality black bin bag with LOTS of parcel tape ... it was murder to get into but I guess it did the job even if it looked dreadful.

I don't know what you should do about feedback, maybe one point lost for bad packaging. I once left negative feedback after receiving a handbag with marker pen marks on the front of it, and got a load of abuse back, saying what did I expect for £3.50 .... I expected a bag I could use!!

At least the contents of your parcel were good from the sound of it ... and it made the postman smile :-)

The nerve of them to say that to you..£3.50 is £3.50..you won fair and square..cheeky sods..

  4. Thank goodness you received it ok. I've only received a couple of things in dubious packaging. Personally, I pack mine neatly, put in a carrier bag or bubble wrap then in brown paper and tape it well. X

  5. I once received something I had bought from eBay in a carrier bag. It's a long time ago now but if I remember rightly it was some craft materials. I couldn't believe it either

  8. A good quality carrier bag makes excellent wrapping if done properly plus you have to use a good tape. with clothing I wouldn't have a problem so long as it was done neatly , this however wasn't a good effort normally I'm all in favour of recycled packaging

    1. Hi Kate..i have no problem with recycled packaging..like you say some carrier bags are good quality and will make excellent wrapping..i wouldn't have minded if it wasn't screwed up and just shown a bit of sellotape..

  9. Packaging - people do not want to pay for it and yet you can get all sorts of packaging from the £ shop and in multiples I collect green glass and a recent delivery from Ebay contained two cut up Felix cat food pouch cartons. It worked effectively but it did take me back a bit as to star with I thought someone was sending me cat food. Not had a carrier bag yet. Generally everyone who I have dealt with has been brilliant with the packaging. I only have had one casualty and that was a large bowl to a fruit set the large bowl got smashed but the 6 little dishes arrived intact. I am now after a bowl to match the little dishes. I am also quite happy to pay extra for good packaging if it is required. Hope the girls liked the clothes.

    1. Hi Patty..exactly i think they all want the money with no effort required in the packing department..i am sorry your bowl got smashed, did you get a refund for it..i only charge for postage when i sell..i don't pass on the packing to my my buyers as i feel its my responsibility to ensure the parcels get there safely.
The girls loved the clothes too..

    2. My sister in law used to do a lot at flea markets, car boots and ebay - this is going back a while but they always used to make on the postage then. Some of them are charging a lot - if it is sent by My Hermes or a similar service it is done on weight and they offer a professional service. However if you look at the items you can and cannot send or are insured for -glass and china features heavily on the not insured and indeed a lot of sellers will tell you this at the time of purchase. So no I did not get a refund but I did let the seller know. I used my Hermes to collect an item by arrangement which was to be collection only. Unfortunately I do not drive and am not allowed to - medical issue and so I am heavily reliant on assistance from friends and family. OH is not too keen on my ebay buying and if I said I would need to go and collect something he would probably go ballistic and would not go so sometimes you have to find ways round things. To me the mark of a good seller is someone who takes time and attention with the packing and contents and pops little notes in with the contents indicating if there is any problem giving their persona detail for contact asking that you deal with them in the first instance if anything is wrong. And indeed I was prepared in respect of the item that I sent My Hermes to collect to pay the seller extra for the packing as she put herself out to actually help me. That meant an awful lot. Glad the girls loved the clothes it is always fun to have nice new pretty things. Take care. Pattypan
