Not saying i'm a hoarder but...

Hello all how are you all doing?
Sorry for being missing for a few days but we had an unexpected visit from the Council ..in December last year i received a letter informing me that they will be re-insulating our lofts to bring them up to standard..the letter said within the next 6 months..o thats plenty of time i thought..turns out we are first on the list and they are coming on Tuesday..Tuesday,Tuesday i almost screamed..o my god our loft is like Steptoes yard..full of carp.
So for the last 3 days we have been up and down the ladder sorting and removing it all from the loft..i have lots of baby stuff which we are keeping..but the rest of it has been sorted and either binned or Charity shopped..i am surprised our ceilings haven't given way with the mount that was up there..our plan is to have only baby stuff and Christmas stuff up there.
The spare room is crammed with bags and boxes ..my hubby has been having bonfires to get rid of old boxes and school work from the older girls..
What did surprise me was the stuff i found that i genuinely thought i had lost or given away.
Like this item..
This is my eldest daughters very first Snowsuit..i bought it from Mothercare half price in the sale..its 29 years old..embarrassing or what..yet its in almost perfect condition.

We also found these..

My portable record player..that i got for Christmas when i was 12..and it still works..we have decided that seeing as we are having a mega clearout they will all be sold and all funds are going to the garden and allotments this year.

I was so happy though to open a box and find my grannys china..not all of it but most of it..i think the rest is still up there and will be found tomorrow..

Nothing matched up at mealtimes at my grannys house..but it didn't matter as it was all so pretty and delicate it just seemed to go together..
So that has been some of my week..our legs ache from the ladder and the endless up and down the stairs..yet it has been nice to see all the old things again...finding books that belonged to the older girls and Sam..all the games they had..a real trip down memory lane.
What about you ladies do you like to go down memory lane now and again.
take care

  3. Did laugh.. We had a letter from the council back in April saying we are scheduled for loft work this tax year , the surveyor came and said the loft had to be emptied in preparation . Err one problem the hatch is so small you'd have to hire toddlers to do the job
