Is it just me or are people a little rude nowadays??

Hello all..how are you all doing?
We are all fine..just had a few days off to catch up with everything that needed doing that didn't get done whilst we were all poorly..all done now.
Over the weekend i joined Freecycle..i have quite a lot to offer and actually don't want anything..i thought maybe a good way to get rid of stuff..I have sorted a few bits out and what i can't sell on Ebay i thought i would give away. Sounds good right..if only it was that easy.
I listed 4 things on offer..got replies to all 4 things from the same person..i thought great she can have the lot..didn't hear anything back..so i emailed her  and this is the reply..Sorry my email just broke and my Satnav not working so i don't want them now..suspicious or just a total time waster???..ok so not a problem..
Next a nice email for an item i was offering ..the lad arranged a pick up and took it..brilliant.
After that i got an email from someone else wanting this item also..i replied it had just gone..then he emailed back and said " does it have a bulb"..i said "no sorry the item has gone and you would have had to buy a bulb for it"..the one i got back read " well i don't want it then if i have to buy a bulb for it"..i mean is it just me or does that sound rude..i was bloody giving it away..all you had to do was buy a fluffing bulb you tight git!!!
It just makes me wonder sometimes why i bother trying to be nice and helpful and also polite..i don't expect hearts and flowers and people to be on bended knees for ever saying thank you..but come on be nice.
I know not everyone is like this but when i do come up against people like this i despair..where are your manners..do you have any..do you know how to use them..were you actually taught them..or are you just a greedy grabber out for anything you can get for nothing..it makes my blood boil..

I just read my Bloggy friend Sue@Our New Life in the Country..and how people are aiming insults and critcism at her..saying she is doing it wrong and this that and the other..well folks if you are that perfect why not show us how to do it..and don't be so rude as to presume your right all the time.
Sorry folks rant over..

  1. Rant away Sara... I hate rudeness. But the reason I am posting this to say a huge thank you for the crochet hook. It really is a beautiful little item. It arrived sealed in a post office bag that had a printed apology for the state of the envelope... torn at the corner of the envelope and card. Either it got caught in machinery or someone very naughty was being a bit nosy. It has also given me something to post about on my blog. I shall link back to you here and hope you get some more readers. Thanks ever so much. I will look after it and use it often. Cherie. x

I agree totally about bad manners, it's a good job there are little beacons of light, like your lovely family and a few others I know, left in this rude, 'grab what you can for yourself and sod the consequences world'.

There see ... you got me ranting again ;-)

  6. I agree! We listed something on Freecycle and someone said they wanted our greenhouse (it was taken apart for easy transportation). They kept telling me they were coming so I told other people that wanted it that it was taken. Well, excuse after excuse as to why they could not make it after I stayed home to be there when they picked up it up and they finally told me they did not want it after all (this was after 1 1/2 months of excuses). I finally just set it out on our curb and someone got it.

    1. See i would have been furious at that..time wasters thats my bug bear too..it seems that some people just reply to all offers and then when they are actually offered it they don't really want it they panic and leave you waiting..am glad it finally got took away..

  7. I worked 2 shifts in a help the aged, people would insult us, the stock, the prices.shoplift and threaten elderly staff, all who were given their time to help for free. people would tell us how much they had made selling our stuff on e-bay.

    ReplyDelete
  8. That is just disgusting..i would refuse to sell them stuff if i could..some people think they have the divine right to do as they please and sod everyone else who is trying to be kind..pure greed..hopefully karma will catch up with them.

  9. We get plenty of that attitude at the charity shop. On the one hand we should have fewer lights on and the manager shouldn't earn what she earns in order to save money. On the other hand we should sell things for rock bottom prices because things are donated. With some folk you just can't win.

    1. You can't win can you..its either your too nice and get walked over or just plain rude..thing is i don't mind giving to charity shops as i like to think that i am helping that charity raise money and that someone is going to get something they need at a low price..

  10. Hi Sara,

I have heard stories like that before, I think it is a matter of attitude, and some people have a lot of that.

I always donate my goods to our local Hospice shop, a cause close to my heart, but I did at one time donate to the PDSA shop. They were so rude, not a thank you, kiss my *** or anything. You can drive past that shop any time of the day and at least 2 assistants are out the front smoking.

Now I am married to a smoker, but I really think that looks bad, surely if they can't last a shift they should smoke at the back of the shop.

That's my rant over, and I am sorry you have been treated this way, take comfort from the fact that they are in the minority, thank goodness.

Love and hugs to you and the girls

    Marie xx

    1. Hi Marie..how you doing..
I understand that they are allowed a smoke break but you would think they would go around the back out the way..it really puts me off when i see staff smoking outside..
Am not too bothered by it all now..its over and done with..and i know that rude people are a small minority but they make abig impact..
      love you much

  11. People are more than just a little rude these days. Some people think they are real tough sitting be hide a screen spouting off. Most would never have the courage to ever say it in person.

  12. It is what it is, sadly. There are rude, mean people out there in the world who enjoy belittling and hurting others. (Think of it as a hobby, as well as a vocation.)

I know this from experience, too -- have just finished a heck of a year, professionally.

What I can't understand -- how they can live with themselves, particularly at 3 a.m. in the morning, when they can't sleep and must face their actions.

  13. I think generally that people are ruder than they used to be. I don't know why but sometimes I feel as though I don't want to go outside as I know that someone is going to be horrible especially on the roads when driving. It's not just you.

  14. It's the reason I gave up on ebay, sort of. I sent something and this rude woman mailed back to say it was covered in cat hair and she was allergic. Well I don't have a cat and she was just wanting her money back. I'd rather donate with that sort of caper going on.

  15. Rude people are all around, and they seem to be multiplying at a rate of knots as there are more of them every time I leave the house. I don't even need to leave the house to encounter them either - I've had numerous rude people on ebay lately, and umpteen problems with 'odd' people since I've been blogging.
