Do you like to be busy?

Hello all ..i hope that your all ok and have had some nice weather..
I was chatting to my husband the other evening over a cup of tea in the garden..about being busy..we both agree we like to be busy and would rather be busy than do nothing. Don't get me wrong there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing nothing if that  is what you like.We do have days when the weather is against us and we are stuck indoors..so thats when my list of things to do comes out. Or we say" sod it "lets have a DVD day.

At the moment our way of thinking is make the most of the day and be busy..if i do sit down then i knit.
We spend lots of time with our girls talking,playing..i think talking to children is one of the most important things a parent can do..listen to them..what they think is important to them and they want to share it..i love to chat and mess about with them..their dad just totally torments and teases them..they love it..rolling their eyes in a dramatic way going "o daaadd"..laughing at his jokes and funny things he says..we also both love to show them new things..Fern has learnt how to sort washing and put it in the machine on the right cycle..they both fold laundry and sort out the clean underwear into separate piles for everyone..helping to put it away as well.
I think its important that they know how a household works..what jobs need doing and when. A house does not clean itself, beds don't make themselves and food does not appear by magic..it all takes work.  Their dad shows them how our food is grown and how you have to prepare the ground and look after the little plants..help them to grow, then harvest them and start again..they help to look after the chickens too..cleaning and collecting eggs. Its all a big cycle and they are learning this..we have a busy time of year and then a slow down.

We are not constantly busy we do have time to relax ..sit in the garden, read our own books, visit our favourite blogs..dance like we are 18 again with the girls and generally have as much fun as we can.
I think finding the right balance at times is hard..being busy and relaxing will change as families grow up or expand..at times you can be rushed off your feet..and other times have lots of spare time.
What about you ladies do you like to be busy and then how do you relax?
take care

  1. I quite agree with you on the kids helping out. My little boy is only two, but today he came out in the garden to help hang out the washing. It was a big basket full, and he passed me every single piece, one by one! He also likes loading and unloading the machine, and putting the powder in. Guess I'm growing a future 'new man' - his wife will thank me! Xx

  2. We enjoy being busy, but we also enjoy the days when we do nothing more than sit in the garden in the sunshine with a good book and enjoy what we have created through our hard work. We had an afternoon like that on Saturday and it was blissful.

  3. The chance to sit in the garden with a book would be good, we seem to be non-stop at the moment and when we do sit down the phone rings or someone arrives on the campsite or something else happens. So much for The Quiet Life!
