Home Happenings..

Hi all..i hope you are all well.
This week has been hectic..well being honest just about every week is hectic but this week was more than usual..
Firstly we had some dental appointments..husband had a crown prep and the girls had check ups..our dental surgery is lovely and even though i have a gut wrenching nerve shredding attack every time i go there or before i get there..i have made sure all my children attend appointments and look after their teeth..they all have lovely teeth thankfully..my husband and i on the other hand were not really made to go and now have problems but our dentists are lovely and doing what they can.

I went to help our DD Annie with the twins for an afternoon..the Health Visitor was going to weigh the girls..which always seems to coincide with one sleeping and one feeding..thus entails chaos..now Annie is coping fantastic with them but only has one pair of hands..so having weighed both babies off goes the Health Visitor leaving Annie with 2 babies screaming blue murder..the last few times my son-in-law has been there to help out but not this time he was at work..so i went down..well now for little girls blimey can they bellow..proper little temper crying..but soon settled down and had nice warm bottles, clean bums and off to sleep..it was a nice afternoon..i even got a smile off Olivia..which made my day..
Baby weights..Esme 8lb 2oz
Olivia 8lb 4oz..isn't that wonderful for both of them..

Our Home Schooling is getting better by the day..i have kinda worked out that about 20 minutes on any subject is enough for them otherwise they get distracted and bored..now this is our plan..20 minutes handwriting, 20 minutes English,20 minutes Math..so on and so forth.
However, when its for a topic or something they find absolutely fascinating then they can spend hours on it..our topic on Whales and Sharks was one of the best we have done so far..we had Shark cam on the Discovery Channel website..brilliant and we all screamed when a shark appeared from nowhere and attacked the camera..they are fascinating creatures to be admired from afar lol.
.

Our newest topic is the flags of the world..i have a huge map and i am fortunate enough to have a wonderful friend Lyn whose daughter Nell is a teacher..last year they went away and sent us some postcards..these were wonderful..so Nell put out a request on Facebook and we were inundated with postcards..you can see on the map all the dots..the dots mark places we have received postcards from..so now we are discovering the world from our little home..

Today both girls had spelling tests..also math and FT1 is working through Charlie and the Choclate Factory topic on her own..we have started to read Moby Dick together..i bought it last year when it was on sale.

I had a delivery this week,,20 kilo's of wash powder..hoping it will last me a long time...so far it seems ok my laundry is clean and all stains are gone so i am pleased with it.
It looks like Daz and smells like it too.
2 huge 10 kilo sacks.
I am keeping the sacks an airtight box with a lid on it..but my back porch smells wonderful whenever you go in there..i bet your thinking whats so frugal about that..well it was £17.98..free delivery and arrived in 2 days. I do a lot of laundry and it does cost to do it..so i am hoping that buying it in bulk will save me in the long run.

The little gift we bought for FT2 arrived..she was so pleased with them .
My Little Pony hairbobble and clips.
I bought them off Ebay for £1.79 they are handmade and lovely..a small price to pay to make her understand that we and her sister appreciate the sacrifice she made by giving up her beloved watch cushion.
She is wearing them everyday.
Now as soon as we have done with school everyday we have lunch and as long i have nothing lined up for them in the afternoons the girls play..many years ago before we started this we bought a huge Knex set and some plastic Meccano like stuff..a huge box for £5 from a charity shop..they never really bothered with it..but just lately they both have shown more interest in it..i like to see them making things being creative.
FT2 and her cogs

FT1 and her metal detector?

FT 1 and her Field Generator.? she has seen this on a programme they both watch.
We have lots of Lego and i mean lots..they make up worlds and play with it so nicely..i think having a good imagination is probably a great thing to have in life don't you?
As the weather was nice we went outside to play a few times last week..we have a swingset and slide to play with but the one thing they both love is bubbles..i found a bottle i bought last year but had no wands to blow them..so i made some out of pipe cleaners..they work but only for a while..the pipe cleaners absorb the bubble mix..but we had fun doing it and managed to get some bubbles.

Finally bubbles..
So that was just part of my week..i am shattered ..do you often have hectic weeks and feel totally whacked at the end of it?
take care all

  3. Wonderful that the babes are growing. I love how you ha the girls. Saw the Canadian Flag - my country. If the girls want to look up a rid bit on goggle earth, I live at the longitudinal centre of Canada. They will see how flat it is on the prairies and the various crops we grow. Have fun learning.

  4. Sara, there doesn't seem to be much difference in the Flowertots in size, they look lovely.

I so wish my school days were as happy and interesting as you make theirs.

Jess and I have been decluttering and I have found a few bits of craft stuff, not a lot, but I will send them to the girls, they may be able to use them. There are a couple of packets of the crochet owls they might want to have a play with.

Have a good weekend, although it has rained all day here.

    Much love

  5. It has been a very busy few weeks here. Summer term at school is crazy, what with final data, report writing and trying to prepare for next years intake. I do like to be busy but I could do with it slowing down a little- I fell asleep as soon as i sat down with the laptop earlier!

  6. Sara, Captain Pilchard is OK. He is a bit battle scarred, but spends some time in the little house we bought for him, and inside the house he has a little igloo, which originally was bought for Flora, but she wouldn't have anything to do with it. He is too ferel to entertain having him in the house, but every morning he is waiting outside the back door for his breakfast.

Occasionally he goes missing for 24 hours but then turns up, looking a bit sorry for himself. He is definitely a gentleman of the road.

  7. Yes another busy week here too, just taking a little time to catch up on some blogs, sorry I am late seeing your new post.
I love seeing all the things you have been doing with the girls & so lovely to hear about the twins, I remember the health visitor checks so well, we had a nice one that came to the home for months so I didn't have to go to the surgery on my own with both of them.
    Fondly Michelle
